Is Obama not half black/ half white?  Wanted to get people's thoughts on why he is automatically considered "black" when his mother was white.  No racist undertones here but why can't white people claim him to be one of their own as well?  Why are white tea partiers considered racist when they criticize him even thought he is half white?  Thoughts??

Because he is black---do white people claim Frederick Douglas, WEB Dubois, Prince, Shemar Moore, Halle Berry? Nope, they don't, because they are black, regardless of who is the white or black parent.

Because blacks in this country want special undeserved privileges related to race. In my bloodline, I actually have some Latin American and North African mixed in on my fathers side a few generations back. However, I would never claim either on any application nor would I try to pass off either as being part of my identity so people would think I'm "diverse".

Unfortunately, being 1/1000th black qualifies you as black in the eyes of the black community. It's identity politics at its lowest common denominator.

LOL. You're forgetting the fact that he's black. Will never happen. If he pulled an OJ on Hillary in the parking lot outside of the democratic primary in 2012, 97% of the black population would still vote for him.

What people fail to realize is that Obama has nothing in common with black america except for the fact that he shoots hoops and doesn't take his job seriously. He has lived a privileged life and hasn't had to struggle a single day. He is an elitist in every sense of the word and only cloaks himself in blackness when it is politically advantageous. He is whiter than every white person who posts on this board, yet he can pretend to be one of the brothers because he can identify with his African background based on his Muslim, socialist, alcoholic, African father that he met 3 times before abandoning his mother. Quite convenient.
