Outdoor lighting for the back of your house
« on: April 20, 2011, 12:20:19 PM »
Right now we have flood lights that are so old some of them are unadjustable as they just kind of hang by the wire....time to replace.

Do most people have flood lights for the back of their house instead of wall lantern styles you use in the front?

Both.

Flood light is motion sensor which animals set off all the time.

When I used to live in a house I had one of those motion sensor things and it often got tripped at 2-3 am which would waken the woman I was living with at the time (don't ask me how, maybe she slept with one eye open).  We never spotted anything, until one night when we were up late for some reason and she was looking out the window and saw our neighbor's daughter crossing through the yard (low brick walls).  The neighbor's daughter was 13 at the time, so we ratted her out.

It was for her own good >:(

BTW, maybe your ex was an extremely light sleeper....like those that have to stuff pillows against the floor vents because they make noise..even w/a new furnace...or those that can hear the dogs walking on the carpet...or smacking theri lips together..

Poor light sleepers and their noisy dogs.   ;D  I'm the exact opposite.  SOmetimes she would come in on the redeye and I would have slept the whole night with the tv on and blaring and all the lights on... and slept hard.  But I do wake up with an internal alarm clock.

most people have flood lights.  That being said I rather have more tasteful lights in the backfor entertaining that aren't as harsh and flood lights over garage entrances

you can always install another light switch for your flood lights so that you can have main and accent lighting on one or even two switches and then the flood lights on another switch so that you can be out back without the flood lights on.

Most of that work is pretty easy depending but it can get complicated depending on what you want.

i like retaining walls like these with some accent lighting

depends on what you have in your back yard stella and what your going for looks or functionality.
