I competed as a superheavy in April with 235 lbs and a flat stomach. See pics at:

Coming off my diet, my belly started bloating like crazy. I also packed on weight (35 lbs) since April - something that always happened after I competed.

What is different is the bloat and the gas. I got checked for ascites (negative) and even had a colonoscopy yesterday.

recommendation was so far to take probiotics and enzymes.

Any ideas/experiences? I really hate this "muscle gut" I am carrying around with me now. It is hard and round and very pronounced when I eat a larger meal.

Most guys who have this problem do so because once their show is over they go right back to eating their normal off-season diet and this is a big mistake. Regardless of how you dieted more than likely your carb intake was much lower while dieting and when you go back to normal carb consumption right away this problem occurs and it can take a very long time to correct.

The best plan after a show is to ease back into your off-season diet slowly. Slowly ramp up your daily intake as needed. Most also find that continuing their fat burners for a couple of wks past the show along with a very low dose of whatever diuretic they used for a couple days past the show to be very helpful as a massive amount of bloat and weight gain can occur the first few days after the show.

Yep, this is important, especially if you have been without gluten for a longer time.
I would avoid it the best i can anyways, i think you can live better without it.

Here's an article about it on T-Nation:

well a "growth gut" won't appear in a week or so right?

thank you very much for the advice regarding gluten - I will most definitely look into that. I think that may be the cause. I did not really pig out after the show but did add bread, bagels, pastries, pasta, etc to it.

If there is any advice regarding gluten, gluten free diet, testing, etc, please let me know!

Foods that are carb based are often gluten based as well as processed meats and condiments.

Guys in the end a large portion of most peoples problems derive from too many carbohydrates. Yes, carbs have a place but of the three primary nutrients they are number 3 on the list and most people treat them as if they're number 1.
