Why is Robert getting this mayweather fight? I take it the Manny pacquio  fight will never happen and at this point it is not nearly the fight it would of been 3-4 years ago. I have to give some credit to floyd mayweather he is very smart about the opponents he picks to fight. I think the guy who has the best shot of beating Mayweather is Adrien broner but Adrien and Floyd are good friends, plus Adrien needs at least 2 more years of experience. Adrien could go into a fight with Mayweather now and possibly pull a upsett but I still think mayweather has to many tricks and fighting tactics adrien has not learned yet, plus both have the same fighting style. 2 years down the road I would def say broner would have the skills by then to beat mayweather. I will say for adrien broners age he is ahead of where floyd mayweather was when he was 23-24. A mayweather/broner fight will never happen especially now that I know they are good friends and hang out together.  Who has robert really beat that qualifys him to fight Mayweather though? Andre Berto? Andre berto was his biggest challenge so far and that deserves him a mayweather fight? Robert got super lucky! No matter what Robert is looking at a huge payday. I think I like Roberts attitude alot better he is def much more humble but guys like Mayweather and broner who talk big sell alot of tickets. Robert is really no saint either is a gun toting thugish guy. If he didn't box he would still use his mexican cocaine connection and make some coin. I just for once want to see mayweather fight a real competitor! It would be nice if alvarado could step up to 147 mike would be a good fight for floyd. Still the future after mayweather is all Adrien broner.

Mayweather vs Martinez is your fight @ 154, but Martinez carries an 160+ punch, so Mayweather would be a damn fool to take that fight @ 35-36.  The guy is coming to the end of his career.  You'll get the Manny fight because it's a BIG payday, and they will find away to get him around Marquez this time.  Mayweather could outpoint Boner in a clash of the same styles, but again, why for the risk?

so you agree Adrien broner could possibly beat mayweather? I know it is not possible and that fight will not happen they are too close of friends. say floyd when he was 23 fought broner at his age now of 23 who would win? I think broner will be the next mayweather. Hell if Mayweather was still boxing in 2 years broner would beat him if they fought but by then floyd will be old.

Mayweather is nearing the end of his career. He didn't take the Manny fight because it was a risk at the time. Now that Manny is on the way down I doubt the fight will happen. Would he risk his history as an unbeaten fighter with Broner? I doubt it. Broner has the speed and power to beat Mayweather. This fight will never be made.

Mayweather & Broner are both very gifted, hardworking fighters.

However, I wouldn't want to my own son to ever look up to or admire those idiots.

let me put it this way.  mayweather had problems with zab judah's speed, before he had a ring mental breakdown, as usual. boner might be faster with better pop.  no need for mayweather to play with that at this point in his career.  tomato can it and make $100M after taxes til retirement, that's what i say, i'd do.

Larry Holmes was never given his true respect as a champ. One thing history has shown is that he ducked no one. Mayweather will go down as undefeated but if you look up mallard in the dictionary it's a picture of Mayweather the duck.

you can also find him under Preserved Brain Cells unlike Ali, Hearns, Holmes, Holyfield, Duran and the other greats, who fought every and anyone.  If he doesn't jack off all his money, he beat the game, it didn't beat him into powder.

Depends what you're fighting for.

Yes Floyd leaves with a bigger slice of the pie, and more brain cells but respect and admiration are timeless. 100m on the other hand...

True. Mayweather has done a great job of picking safe fights. I just do not understand who wants to see these fights and who actually pays 50$ to order them. I would pay if he fought broner or Manny but Mayweather always takes some easy fight. The closest guy who got close to beating him on the judges score card was De La Hoya, and De La Hoya is shit-IMO. Adrien broner on the other hand is super fast and he has that safe stance where he rolls that left shoulder. That stance works well for myself as well. IT works great for me because it allows me to throw powerful left jabs and the double up with a hard right power shot. Mayweather is going to retire with knowing he never took a fight he did not like

Mayweather will follow the Roy Jones blueprint, his expensive lifestyle outside of the ring will force him like Roy to take fights when hes well past his best, as his marketibillity dies down, Floyd will have to take riskier opponents at the same time as his reflexes slow whether he ends up as bad as Roy who knows, but one things for sure his O will go, maybe he will realise it and retire after the first loss, but until he retires his lifestyle outside of the ring he will still need to fight once to twice a year, Roy was unbeatable once and avoided everyone just beating up on no chance fighters on HBO for a decade, in the end as his skills and reflexes were deserting him he was forced to fight the Calzagies and Tarvers at their primes or close to resulting in him losing to fighters that you could argue he would have beaten easily in his prime.

Here's the difference with FMW:  He waits for his top opponents to loose their skill sets before he agrees to the fight.

ODLH - Bum
Haugen - Chin first, Punch second
Cotto - No body punch left
Mostley - Over the hill
Manny - Lifeless in early 2014

It's not just about avoiding, it's about timing with FMW.  He'd fight Martinez, if Martinez lost his speed and got KO'ed by a soft punching Bradley.  In fact, he won't touch Bradley or Berto, because those are high work rate fights for him like taking on Paul Williams before his injury.
