How much opiates does it take to OD?

Just reading Doink the Clown (WWE wrestler) died of morphine and Vicodin over dose:

Thinking of Heath Ledger for example, dude died of Oxy overdose, and his friends described him a human vacuum cleaner at sniffing that stuff. Is there a fine line between high and fatal?

Tolerance builds with use.

Its when people mix it with something else is when it becomes a problem. Street drugs like heroin vary in potency so those people don't know how much they're actually taking.

Yep, it varies. What happens often is guys go off for a while and try to hop back on at a high dose and go into respiratory depression and die.

OD'ing on heroin is a nice way to go out. Just make sure to use enough to die, and not find yourself in a coma/vegetable state.

usually depends on what else you have in your system.

opiates + benzo's or alcohol is no bueno. you'll just stop breathing.

that being said, years ago (like 10), after a brutal leg day i'd get home 'round 10pm and take 5mg valium, 1/2cc nubain, and 350mg soma and feel fuckin great for about an hour before I fell asleep.

correct.  So far ive been able to recover. Its a day to day battle.  Thr chances of a woman recoverinv are almosg nonexistent.

btw.. after not having any opiates for years, coming out of anesthesia after getting my kidney's scoped I was in the worst pain i'd ever felt in my life (sticking tubes up my dick!!), they game me 120mg morphine and 6mg dilaudid over the course of an hour IV, and 15mg vicodin on my way out the door going home.

1mg dilaudid alone got me high as a kite for hours when I had pancreatitis, 2mg put me to sleep. can't believe I survived 6mg plus the other stuff. I did however, nod off in the car on the way home. lol

like many said it depends on your tolerance. If you are going back on opiates from a long break take it very easy and just use the most minimal amount that feels effective. Then slowly your tolerance will build over months maybe years depending your injury and once you get to taking 80mg of oxycodone or oxycontin daily you are considered a opiate tolerant patient.

I had a experience where I got the old original Oxycontin 160mg tabs way back in 2,000 before they pulled the OC 160's off the market, and it was my first time trying it and I under-estimated how strong the pill was. guys were saying that tab would get 6 people loaded but I was young and cocky and thought how could just that small of amount could be that strong. I had taken ecstasy and never had problems at all except a great time.
I had never used opiates. I got cocky and took half of the Oxycontin 160mg tab and I got so high! I knew right away I had took to much. I surprisingly did not get sick I just layed down and bumped some U-god/wu-tang clan and felt like a million bucks but i def could not do shit but lay down. I even woke up the next day high.

I could honestly take 450mg of oxycodone a day and not get sick at all! Once you have been on the drug for years the most likely you will not OD. Now if you start using other drugs with the opiates you might have respitory problems.

I used to put on 2x 100MCG fentnyl patches on my bicep veins and abuse 320mg of oxycontin and even though I was opiate tolerant I could feel the respitory deprssion but I was no were close to overdosing it was just noticable.

The worst thing that usually happens is guys get out of treatment or jail and take a big hit of heroin they easily used to be able to handle and they overdose(there organs just shut-down)

Just taper up slowly and get a tolerance. Be careful and do not mix other drugs unless prescribed and use them as directed.
