Mayor Menino "suspends" cancer treatment....
« on: October 24, 2014, 10:27:43 AM »
Quote
"Today, I, along with my family, after talking with my medical team, have decided to suspend my book tour as well as my cancer treatments. While I continue to fight this terrible disease, I feel it is time for me to spend more time with my family, grandkids, and friends. The medical team at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital along with those at the Dana-Farber have been amazing in their care and treatment of me and the many other patients and families that suffer from cancer. I am hopeful and optimistic that one day the talented researchers, doctors and medical professionals in this city will find a cure for this awful disease. Angela and I are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support and kindness shown to our family and ask that everyone keep us in their thoughts and prayers."
Just how exactly is he planning to "fight" the cancer? Sounds to me like he is throwing in the towel. No shame in that by the way. Chemotherapy has caused the strongest of men to cry out for their own death.

I suspect he only has a little time left and he has decided not to spend what little precious time he has left in hospitals..

It just struck me as odd that he would say "suspending" the cancer treatment as opposed to "stopping" the treatment.  And why say he is "continuing to fight" the disease when he effectively is surrendering by ending the treatment?

Putting on a stong face for the kids/grandkids I suppose. He probably doesn't want them to think he's a quitter.

That cancer is in his liver and his lymph nodes....he's doing what Derek Anthony should have done last year.  At 71 years old, the treatment is more deadlier than the cancer itself.  Best to just enjoy the remaining days of your life as no amount of chemo or drugs is going to save his life
