THIS is what they did in Ferguson - Police INTENTIONALLY gave the rioters one day to make a MAJOR mess - and on purpose - in order to garner public support.  They moved very slow on purpose, and they LET a small group of idiots do anything they wanted.   instead, they spent the night complaining about 15 injured cops and they LET the bad guys do it.

What no one expected is what Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake admitted in a press conference on Sunday: that she asked the Baltimore Police Department to “give those who wished to destroy space to do that.”

She slipped up by revealing it, but this is EXACTLY the strategy used in Ferguson, and I fcking called it then - they're playing the public relations game, letting a small group of idiots have the spotlight to be bad without even trying to stop them, for a day.  Those cops moved purposely slow, they surrendered "hamsterdam", a small % of baltimore, to let the bad guys do anything.  It's a political strategy, and it's not new.  And now the mayor ADMITS it.   And now she will wake and up and complain about being "misquoted", but how the $@#^& do youo "accidentally" admit giving people space to destroy?   Inexcusable.

I saw on the news this she claims her quote was "taken out of context", but that's exactly what she said, and that's exactly what w saw. 

My FB feed is full of people trashing the protesters.  The mayor doesn't care about the stores or the damage, they only care about what people are saying.

here in SW FL, on Dec 31st, they lined up ten police "paddy wagons" for mass arrests.  If you get arrested, you get locked in one, and your ass sits for a few hours until they can bus you to the ail for booking.

I have to think, in BAL, they could arrest 100 guys without taking 100 cops off the street for hours writing reports.

I didn't say hours.. but when you are in a riot situation, every cop available is needed on the street. It's controlled chaos. You can't arrest for every violation or you deplete your resources fast. In theory, your idea sounds great. In practice, just won't happen.
