melt down about what? i'm interjecting bullshit into getbig threads as usual.  unfortunately, a tranny plug-in won't work in a boxing thread. sorry charlie, i've been at this getbig troll, derailing, etc. game too long. try one of the newbies.

A tranny-plug in? You have been here for too long indeed, maybe get some sunshine? LOL yes, you sure are the best at what you do. I'm sure you have much to be proud of.

This is footage from when, 1913-1926 at best? So based on some video from roughly 100 years ago you discount him?

OFC  the videos are 100 years old  , he died in 1926 ,retard . ::)

Hard to compare boxers from different era's, especially the ones from the 1900-1940's since the conditions and rules around the sport were so different back then.

These statistics skew the fight somewhat.  It was a very close fight with Floyd controlling the pace and actually landing the more impactful punches.  Castillo was a great fighter at that point, and Floyd thoroughly dominated him in the rematch.
I watched this fight on mute the other day (to eliminate the possibility of being influenced by the announcers and crowd), and I had Mayweather winning by a couple rounds. Keep in mind that compubox counts any punch that even somewhat lands in a scoring zone, including shoulder punches.

i've already explained that it depends on what you're basing greatness off of. In terms of pure skill, floyd is higher. Pep is one of the defensive greats and has a ridiculously impressive career record, but you also have to consider the fact that in the 229 fights he had, only 3 of them were international boxing hall of famers...chalky wright, sandy saddler and manuel ortiz,
and as for world champions, 9 of them....Sandy Saddler, Chalky Wright, Manuel Ortiz, Paddy DeMarco, Sal Bartolo, Jackie Wilson, Phil Terranova, Joey Archild and Harold Dade.
He also had a very low KO percentage out of those 229 fights and many of these were against a load of bums, as was the norm back then to pretty much just beat the shit out of any tomato can once a week in order to make a living.

I'm not going to completely denigrate peps career either because it was amazing, so i recognise the fact that there wasn't the bullshit alphabet title circus we have now, back then, so there wasn't as much "world champions", and he also suffered losses after his plane crash injury. but at the same time i think people always have a tendency to romanticise the old fighters and build them up into mythical status without actually looking at facts, same way they disregard the more modern champions. I personally do not see how pep would make a top 5 list based on his resume alone, but i don't think floyd does either.

i agree with everything you are saying about pep. if you have 200 plus fights and a survived a plane crash your gonna lose no matter who you are.
all those fighters you mentioned who fought pep not one of floyds opponents are even comparable in skill who has be defeated to be even considered B class let alone an ATG. he has never been tested once in his career other than hurting his hands which is normal with boxers but he takes 3 years off to "recover".  does floyd have skill yes but to compare his skills with a certified ATG is ridiculous floyd had major problems with zab judah for 6 rounds before as usual judah mentally collapses and all zab had was speed and a good power with decent footwork and he put floyd on his ass  but the ref called it a slip.  i would like to know what fighters he fought even allows him to be even compared to pep because i cant think of not one ?

khan shows up on fmw's buddy's, ben, channel. now, we know who his next opponent is. 5 months ago he said khan wasn't a draw, just dumped the belts to eliminate title holders and mandatories, thurman, brook, lara and andrade.  dcafs will buy this BS ppv just like Maidana 1 and 2.  Is the current generation of boxing fans really that uneducated on match-making?
