Alligator Kills Robbery Suspect Trying to Hide From Police in a Pond
A 9-foot alligator has ended the life of a man police say was breaking into cars at a Florida casino, and fled into a nearby pond where he sustained multiple bites to the head. He was found at the pond's bottom a day or so later.
Poncho, as the gator was known, was well-known. "Some alligators just have a nasty disposition and he was just a nasty gator. He seemed to have no fear of people," said one. A trapper said Poncho will be stored for medical examiners.
"Anytime an alligator digests or even kills a person, it is a state law through the Florida Fish and Game that the gator be destroyed," said the owner of All American Gator, a local alligator processing company who has Poncho.
