He did undergo hormone treatment and plastic surgery,but,as far as I'm aware, didn't end up going for the full sex change. Well, 3rd world countries are probably A LOT less accepting than industrialized countries when it comes to the LGBT community. Its the same reason why many gay muslims in the Middle-East do not openly express being gay. I can bet you that many men and women in 3rd world countries have all sorts of sexual feelings and desires that are openly not accepted. Thus, people in 3rd world countries don't do stuff like this because they are scared of the social consequences, not because they do not have these feelings or desires. Remove them from their current context, and see how fast many of these people openly express suppressed desires and feelings related to their sexuality.

So, its not really a good argument.
