Remember there were times in which even silly TV shows, Baywatch for example, featured the most beautiful women and strapping, handsome men? Remember when, if a family was unfortunate enough to have an ill, defective, drug-addicted, autistic, or retarded member, it certainly didn't want to mistreat this person, but it certainly didn't put these people on display for all the world to see, nor did we such people worthy of having TV shows dedicated to them. Now we have shows on 600-pound-plus people, autistic people, dwarves, drug addicts, and so on. Some might serve as educational material, but nearly all are meant for entertainment, mockery, or even worship. I'm even starting to think that some women would even prefer to have a child with a handicap of sorts, or better yet, be gender confused.
Wasn't there a time in which we actually enjoyed looking at attractive, healthy and strong people and actually wanted people to wind up intelligent, academically successful, and self-sufficient, while at the same time just providing care to the sick and indigent?
