Markus Ruhl is much better than Gunter. Schlierkamp might have a pretty physique and a winning smile, but Ruhl is just so massive. People seem to think that Gunter is a far greater success simply becuase he's more visible. He's a weider athlete who gets a tonne of covers and increased exposure from living in California. Markus is usually written off because he hasnt competed a whole lot in his career. Living in germany, he does not have the same opportunity to be seen by the American fans. Not to mention he has suffered serious tears in recent years. While Gunter was struggling to make top 5 at the ironman, Ruhl was on the Olympia stage knocking down doors.
Becuase of Ruhl's unfortunate placing at last years Olympia his non-fans assume he's done. Consider that he got married, built a house for his new family, and opened his own gym. Furthermore, his contest prep was ruined when he had serious prblems with his nose from using allergy medication 4 weeks out. Unable to train, his prep fell apart.
Nevertheless, both are amazing bodybuilders. But for all of Gunter's charisma, Ruhl is just the perfect example of mass and more mass. He's a huge guy but humble too. Badell could learn from Ruhl . . .
