I have a problem with it, in that it could only claim our monumental failure as a society.  With an actual monument.

It would be nothing more than a giant statue representing America's defeat at the hands of corporate interest.

Trump claimed he'd make "the best deals" for the American people.  Yet one of the very best money-making opportunities, ever, still waits to be seized -- along with the assets of those who perform illegal business.  Several entrenched problems handled at once, with all incentive to jump our border removed with them.

He, of all people, knows this as fact.

I don't know if legalizing drugs is the answer, unless you're talking about weed. I believe it should be legalized and regulated just like booze, and this coming from someone who doesn't smoke it and probably wouldn't even if it was legal.

No, I mean those profiting from illegal work.

But you make a good point on the other issue, too.  Though Trump could easily find a way to talk around any proposal involving drugs.

Bottom line, Trump's acting just like any other Bitch for the Rich.  Trump = Obama = Clinton = Scum

LOL - you call that  splitting hairs

if you think it's basically the same thing then there should be no problem with Mexico just paying for it upfront

or maybe you can understand it this way

Go find the hottest chick who will go out with you and tell her you're going to treat her to dinner at her favorite restaurant.

When the bill arrives you ask her to pay and you'll maybe reimburse her at some time in the future

It's just wordplay on your part. Whether they "want" to pay is not relevant. How they pay is not relevant. THAT they pay and THAT the wall is BUILT - IS relevant.

and what if they want more than a small portion

or maybe you don't want to sell any part of it

then what ?

It's called Eminent Domain. It's how the national highway system was built in the USA, which was FAR more impactful to landownership. Eisenhower's vision seemed to work out okay on this. HTH
