Author Topic: Southwest Airlines Completes Test Flight To Hawaii (Read 3415 times)

If by dozens, you mean five, then yes, dozens fly.

The five domestic carriers that fly to Hawaii are:
Alaskan airlines
Hawaiian Airlines
American Airlines
United Airlines
Delta Airlines

So why does Southwest matter? Because in every market they enter, prices drop. They're the largest low cost airline in the world. The one place they didn't fly in the US, that their customers most often requested is Hawaii. For inter island flights, there is only one airline, Hawaiian, so competition is welcome.

Air New Zealand, Quanta, Jal, and Singapore don't fly from the mainland to the islands. They only fly international flights. These are internal domestic flights.

Mokulele's fleet consists of 15 Cessna Grand caravans. That's not real competition for Southwest.

Hawaii is an overrated tourist trap. Basic items cost a fortune. Stay away. Rent a couple high priced hookers instead... money much better spent.

British Airways fly to Hawaii, I remember looking it up when I was imagining what it would be like to be able to have money and go to nice places on holiday rather than sleeping in the garden on a warm day here.

Nearly everyone I know who’s gone to Hawaii for vacation stays at some fancy all-inclusive resort and does a single ‘volcano adventure tour’ so they can post pics on social media. The beaches look rocky and terrible, the water looks brown, the waves look dangerous and it all just seems like you go to Hawaii to add it to your bucket list. For a 10 hour flight and half the money, I’d bet Croatia would be just as beautiful and more fun.

Yeah, super idea: 1st fly with Quantas or Singapore A. or British to LAX , then fly back to Honolulu with SWA

Just 3 days of clouds scenery & remember QUANTAS never crash.

or should I go with Air New Zealand from Sydney>Auckland>Cooks>Papeete, then Papeete > Honolulu

let's hope these new boeing 737 MAX don't crash after take off like the Indonesian Lion Air....I hope they sue Boeing for killing 189 souls. Boeing refuse to take blame for failing to properly train or warn pilots of this automation issue which proved to be deadly.....let's hope they fix it before it happens again

Jetstar and AirAsia X both fly to Honolulu, which creates low cost routes from the US to Osaka or Melbourne. Southwest also connects with Norwegian air on the East coast going to Europe.
