If the kid enjoys running with the parent, and isn't forced to on a continual abusive level, then that's fine. It's nice they're spending time together.

If the parents are nutcases, as most hardcore runners are, then this can set the kid up for a lifetime of self destruction. Hopefully the kid won't grow up observing his parents crazy running behavior and think it's normal behavior.
