Starting January 15, 2022, DC will require the following establishments to verify that their guests, visitors and consumers ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine:

Restaurants, bars and nightclub establishments (including restaurants and taverns, coffee shops and fast-food establishments that have seating if guests choose to sit down; breweries, wineries and distillery tasting rooms; mixed-use facilities; food courts);

Indoor entertainment facilities (including nightclubs, hookah bars, pool and billiard halls, and cigar bars; concert, live entertainment and sporting venues; movie theatres; adult entertainment venues; bowling alleys);

Indoor exercise and recreational establishments (including exercise facilities, dance, yoga and Pilates studios; any facilities used for group fitness classes);
Indoor event and meeting establishments (including hotel common rooms, banquet halls, conference centers meeting facilities, convention centers, auditoriums; shared work facilities); and

Any other indoor establishment designated by the Director of the DC Department of Health.

All of these places require two vaccine doses to enter in my city. It's been like that since last summer.

It's a nice feeling to know you can go out and be safe from the virus.

In just over a month,  the country’s Covid cases have sharply risen from around 1,000 a day to more than 100,000 a day — but its deaths remain low.

SYDNEY — As 2021 drew to a close, many Australians were cautiously optimistic that the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic was behind them.

The country had surpassed ambitious vaccine targets, meaning its rolling lockdowns could cease, both internal and international borders would reopen, and as Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared, it was now possible to “live with this virus.”

But as Australia moved to change course on its pandemic strategy, the highly transmissible omicron variant hit. In just over a month, cases have risen from around 1,000 a day to more than 100,000 a day. Hallmarks of the pandemic that Australia mostly avoided began to emerge. The health system is buckling. Many supermarket shelves are bare as sick workers stay home.

Despite this surge in cases, most Australian states and territories are holding the line and allowing the virus to circulate in their communities, which critics have labeled the “let it rip” approach. But is it all bad news?

dude i know whos a funeral director guessed at around 50% more that ever before (his range went up to age 60)
i guess that might have been a low-ball guess
went to high school with him and saw him at the wake for a cousin who took the jab and died (couple weeks later) of sudden-death heart failure, age 52
never sick before that, no signs of sickness leading up to it either
blood-work (per his wife) from previous years physical was perfect (on no meds, etc)
always thought it was an odd choice for him to go to college and become an undertaker, prepping dead bodies, now he runs the show there
local obits here have 3 to 4 "suddenly" "unexpectedly" every day in that age range

Restrictions including COVID-19 passes, mask mandates, and work-from-home guidance will be removed in England, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday.

Johnson also suggested that self-isolation rules may also be thrown out at the end of March as the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic becomes endemic.

Effective immediately, the UK government is no longer asking people to work from home.

The COVID pass mandate for nightclubs and large events won’t be renewed when it expires on Jan. 26.

And from Thursday, indoor mask-wearing will no longer be compulsory anywhere in England.

The requirement for secondary school pupils to wear masks during class and in communal areas will also be removed from the Department for Education’s national guidance.

Roaring cheers from lawmakers could be heard in the House of Commons following Johnson’s announcements on masks.

Hana Horka: Czech singer dies after catching Covid intentionally
