I believe there was a SCOTUS case some years ago where they ruled the police do NOT have a duty to protect people from crime. It seems to me this ruling says two things:
1) There is no reason to have a police force.
2) Individuals have the right to use any measure, including lethal force, to protect themselves from crime.
There is a reason why liberal shit-holes are, well, liberal shit-holes.
