Trey Mitchell Defends his "Shaw Classic" Crown
« on: August 15, 2022, 04:53:12 AM »
He won it last year, and again this year. It came down to the last event between he and Shaw.
I like when contests are decided in that fashion.

This Evan Singleton guy yaps all over his IG like he's the 2nd coming of Pudz. Does worse in each contest.  ::)
The guy who won (Mitchell) calm/mellow dude, not an attention whore like Singleton.
Big Z just came out and did it for fun (Basically retired) and Pritchett should call it quits at this point.

2022 Shaw Classic Results

(1) Trey Mitchell — 100.5 points
(2) Brian Shaw — 99.5 points
(3) Mitchell Hooper — 95 points
(4) Oleksii Novikov — 79 points
(5) Maxime Boudreault — 69.5 points
(6) Kevin Faires — 68 points
(7) Aivars Smaukstelis — 67 points
(8.) Evan Singleton — 60.5 points
(9) Konstantine Janashia — 52 points
(10) Žydrūnas Savickas — 48.5 points
(11) Bobby Thompson — 42 points (withdrew)
(12) Gabriel Peña — 39 points
(13) Gabriel Rheaume — 36.5 points
(14) Jerry Pritchett — 28 points
(15) Luke Stoltman — One point (withdrew)

The prize money keeps growing (150K) and Shaw does not take prize money and he gives it back to the others to split.

How is Zydrunas still this strong at, what, 47?

That said, for his health, he should downsize and retire.

Is it safe to say that Shaw picks his best events for this contest? Or is he still that good as to place 2nd against top pros? He did place 4th at WSM, so...I guess it's possible.

Shaw seems to pick events that favor him. Still, a generous guy giving back to (or giving to) the guys he competes with.
When he won the 1st Shaw-Classic he also didnt take the prize money and split it between the guys.

Big Z was downsized for a few years, then came back a bit on the Masters and Team circuits.
He'll downsize again Im sure.. (And retire).

Good for Shaw for doing that.

I can't help but to fear for his health though. To be 400-lb at 40...that can't be good. He has had nothing to prove for a while now.

I think it's incredible that he is this strong at 40.

I always thought the Shaw Classic was held at his mountain gym by his house.

What!?

That's incredible, wes.

You know - it's not that I think 40 is old, but in Brian's case, I'm concerned about his being 400-lb at that age.

Have I ever mentioned I fear for Brian's health?

Also, being strong is one thing - but being WSM level strong at 40+...that's incredible. I'm sure Brian cherry-picked events that he is good at...but still, to come 2nd in a top Strongman contest at 40 - I'm impressed.

Equally impressive is you being at your strongest in your late fifties, wes.

Honestly, had you said age 45, I wouldn't have thought too much about it. But late fifties?
