Too Radical??
« on: December 16, 2022, 12:12:39 AM »
So this morning as I was taking my morning dump I was thinking about a new training plan.
I'm sure someone somewhere has done this before but what if I was to only do one exercise per day but balls to Walls intensity.
One day squats and the next day an upper body dominant exercise...and so forth.
In theory you could workout daily. A rest day if needed could be abs but just one exercise say old school Roman chair sit ups.
Thoughts?

Yes, one exercise per day can be a great workout program. You are fresh everyday, never over train and can focus completely on one movement.

Working out daily is only possible/productive if you don't have a job and are able to eat every 3 hours, take naps on the sofa etc. etc.

I did this for years. Works great. I think picking one movement and burying it will get more results size wise.one day I would bench for 20 sets, next day pul ups or barbell rows for 20 sets, next day shoulder press 20 sets, next day barbell curl 20 sets, next day leg press for 20 sets, next day 20 sets weighted dips and keep changing movements every other workout or every few weeks.

But if you're only doing one exercise per day your workouts would only be 25 minutes or so?

And if only one bodypart is worked then recovery would require less food + rest.

The great thing is your total focus is on one lift without the need to hold back because other exercises to do. On days where you feel not as strong just do fewer sets.

For low bar squats, I could see this. My leg day is just that, glutes, and calves.  So sue me. Could also see it for OHP, but if I'm pushing thigs away it's push day.

I wouldn't dig it for push/ pull. All the incline pressing in the world isn't going to replace weighted dips. You could get awesome at chins but still suck at inverted pullups and rows.

Not a physio at all but it sounds like a path to imbalance imo. I'd rather train for broad functionality. On the other hand plenty of guys here look a lot better than I do so wtf do I know.
