If you're fishing, I like my Waeco and it hasn't given me any trouble. Snobs here insist on Engel but imo mines always done fine. Deep cycle batteries can be costly but I scored some in good shape at a machinery auction. There's easy setups that'll charge while you drive and from solar without interfering with your starter battery. Shorter alternator life is the tradeoff. It's really nice in summer not dealing with ice.
SUV is a nice scale. Cycle tourists are basically wiping their ass with leaves and big setups cost wild money and then you can't fit the damn truck down the track. I'll go big when I go for the sake of range and comfort but it'll limit my access.
