Willis assembled a grand jury to investigate the Trump campaign's efforts to interfere with the outcome of Georgia's 2020 election. Among the reasons for the investigation include Trump's call to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in which he said he wanted him to "find" the votes that would allow him to win the election. On Tuesday, Aug. 8, Trump attacked Willis' character and alleged that she had an affair with a "gang member," an apparent reference to a case she handled for YSL Mondo in 2019.
"They say there’s a young woman—a young racist in Atlanta—they say, I guess, she was after a certain gang and she ended up having an affair with the head of the gang or a gang member. And this is a person who wants to indict me," he told an audience during a New Hampshire campaign event on Tuesday. "She's got a lot of problems. But she wants to indict me to try and run for some other office. ... By the way, [she] wants to indict me for a perfect phone call. This was even better my perfect call with Ukraine, remember that?”
