I work out with a cop he’s in his mid-30s and has a very calm patient’s demeanor to him. He tells me some of the calls he goes on. It is the most absurd things you’ve ever heard a son and a mother arguing over a parking spot in the house a side view mirror getting pushed in on accident by somebody and a woman like ranting and raving that it’s ruining her day that her mirror has been pushed, it’s amazing at what goes on sometimes with people it’s like everybody’s mentally ill .same local drug addict getting hauled in .

Make a list of substantive things to discuss with her at home and stay on script - every time!  She'll eventually start to meaningfully engage.

Those every-other-weekends can make a tremendous difference for her.

A good friend of mine drove to VA from NY every other weekend to be with his son post-divorce.  His son turned out great.

If I had a kid they would limited to 1 hour a day on the computer and no phone until 16. How did we all survive without a phone by our side 24/7?

I have nephews and a niece ages 4-7 who are totally addicted to phones and tablets. They can't even look up or have any conversation at all. Their brains are rotting daily. Who knows what the future holds when this generation is leading the world.
