It's the funny nose and sloping brow, too.  His face has a very sloped/angled appearance.

Imagine they dug up that skull thousands of years in the future. It would be in a museum and scientists would say it was an undiscovered ancient species of man. It would be displayed by the Neanderthal skulls.
