The social distancing talking point is dumb. You have people commenting here that haven't done a single course in virology or immunology or microbiology in there lives
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7258883/Social distancing worked to flatten the spanish flu infection curve, this is well documented. It's also used for many over viruses and has been shown to work. To claim there was no science on covid 19 specifically, namely because the virus was novel and there simply wasn't time, is disingenuous and arguing in bad faith.
if anyone wanted to actually learn and have a rational discussion that could be done but all I see are tik toks and talking points. It was also found (social distancing) to reduce infection in the workplace, although far more data would be ideal.
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12889-018-5446-1So you had a virus that had a near 5% kill rate out of the gate, destroying hospitals as it had an abnormal rate of intubation as well (they ran out) causing others to miss surgeries, care etc and the previous best evidence suggested social distancing was helpful, significantly so. If you were in that position you would say yes, distance, only a moron would say no.
In retrospect there are arguments, but they are weak and revisionist and akin to a palimpsest that's etiology has been lost.
