Sounds to me they try everything to get more users on the board

Kind of like myself when I had my first board and wanted to push it and find new ideas to get people to sign up and use the board, getting people to sign up is not that hard, but convincing people to use the board and post is SHIThard.

Yeah getting people to post regularly and stick around is hard for a new board. Just look at the Musclemag and Ironman boards.

Gregg is pretty disappointing as far as shit talking with the members goes.  He wants to post complete and utter tripe that he writes but if anybody writes anything of similar vein he cries like a baby.  Perhaps by doing so one undermines his clearly inflated sense of achievement for "rising" to his level.  If you read the MD board you will realise the only thing Gregg wants from it is to be taken seriously.. 

As with Lee Priest, the guy does seem like he's an egomaniac.  Lots of people here would gladly cop a mouthful of Lee's balls but the fact remains that he does have a very big ego.  Atleast Lee is a little more pragmatic about criticism though.  Its fine to be arrogant ( I know I am) but you have to be prepared to hear challenges to said ego.

And thus you know he will pick lame members for the section.

The thing that makes people sign up an participate in a board is when they see that there is a thriving community, and if the board has some Character.
For example getbig is cursorily like any other bb board, but what makes getbig so successfull is that this board is super honest and does not kick ass, plus the cool members and that you have very little punishment here.
This board in a way is moderated by the members.

To get this going on any new board and to get a board to that stage were you can say you have die hard users and not only people who sign up and post from time to time is pretty hard just have a look on sitepoint.com and read some of the Howto's how to get a community going.

MD should just relax a little and get the board sorted first, they rushed it way to fast, there are tons of good and very usefully hacks for Vbulletin , and free (or payable) Themes that are low bandwith as well.

What they should do is not try so hard to be a another no bull getbig board,,,... it probably took years for this board to become what it is now and to mature to a (sometimes) harsh but honest place.
MD is trying to rush this and it will backfire.
