Wow, this guy pretty much just proved he is a total scumbag. As if we didnt all suspect he was. Anyone have the full article? Just heard it on the radio. In the radio report the officers where on record saying it was not the first time Artest had been talked to about this.

Officers take away Artest's Great Dane
Neighbors accuse Kings star of underfeeding dog at his mansion

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Animal services officers seized a Great Dane from the mansion of Sacramento Kings star Ron Artest, saying the dog was underfed.

Neighbors complained for weeks that the dog — named Socks — appeared to be starving inside a gated area on Artest’s $1.85 million estate in rural Loomis, according to a county report.

On Jan. 30, animal services officers visited Artest’s home and issued a “pre-seizure” notice, warning him that the female Great Dane would be taken into custody if the animal care didn’t improve.

Placer County animal services officers returned to Artest’s home Monday and removed Socks.

Artest has 10 days to request a hearing, county spokeswoman Anita Yoder said.

Artest’s publicist, Heidi Buech, declined to comment when reached by The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The episode has so upset neighbors in Artest’s gated community that the homeowners’ association plans to vote next week on guidelines that would require members to properly care for their animals.

Artest signed with the Kings last January for $7.15 million this season and $7.8 million in 2007-08, with an $8.45 million player option for 2008-09.

Honestly, anyone who posts here knows my love for dogs. But, this just shows how much of a scum pile this guy is. All the shit he has already pulled, then add animal cruelty to the mix? Total piece of shit. A dog is like a frekin small child. They have no real way of fending for themselves, if you leave them locked up, with no food and water. The lowest of the low exploit people, or animals like that. It is not like the dog could hunt to get food, or find his own.

Worst thing is he does it with a giant breed. Those dogs OBVIOULSY need a lot of food and water. I hope his acl 's rip off the bone.

How could you purposely neglect a dog? you live there and see the dog suffering everyday but yet dont do a thing? people like that should not be allowed to have pets.

As a owner and lover of man's best friend, I couldn't agree with you more Body. I'm glad they took the dog before he starved. I just wonder now who takes care of it?

If i were David Stern i would suspend ron artest again and make him undergo mandatory psychological evaluation(s).  This guy has  a proven track record of being mentaly unstable.  If Stern has any balls, he'll pull this guy and face the lawsuit.  I could go on and on about animal cruelty, but the NBA needs to step in before ron artest hurts someone or something else.
