bad symmetry
« on: February 07, 2007, 10:11:52 PM »
My left pec is not as big as my right and my left bicep doesn't have a big of a peak as my right. Should I totally switch from using barbells to dumbbells? And should I add in a few more reps on my left side?

Try unilateral (one side at a time) training.

Study pics of Arnold & you'll notice 1 of his arms was better peaked than the other.Unless it throws yours symmetry & proportions completely off & is very noticeable I wouldn't worry too much about it.

haha! very true! as for your question I think it could be just genitics....i have lots of friends whose chest's devolped differently.  They incorporate both barbells and dumbs.  Maybe if one side is alot weaker you need to focus on using dumbs more often and slow down the speed of your reps and really focus on the muscle working....which is how you should train anyways!  ;)

I've got the exact same problem. Make sure your form is perfect. For me I noticed when I benched/barbell bicep curls that I brought the bar a little farther down on the right side than I did the left so I'm watching my form like a hawk now. Also when training arms, I only work out my left arm since it is a little smaller. Hope this helps.

Dont worry too much about the bicep/arm thing, its more common than you think. Just try your best to bring em up as much as you can. Good luck
