If they really wanted to eliminate Synthol...
« on: March 15, 2007, 12:02:08 PM »
There's no fighting allowed in football, baseball, soccer, or basketball. Hockey's the only major sport where you can get away with it, and not be kicked out automatically. So clearly, the NHL people know that fighting is what fans want, and it keeps them coming. And to their credit, the NHL doesn't pretend that they want to completely remove fighting.

So then, why does the IFBB "mark down" synthol users instead of just ejecting them completely, since they claim they want to remove the scourge from the sport? Considering bodybuilding is about muscle, why isn't sporting fake muscle the gravest of offenses?

that's a very good point...I'd really be interested to see how Chick would feel about this. ;D

Since he's athlete's rep, not cause I think he uses synthol ;)

they can't eliminate it.  It's used in small amounts by most guys.  we're all grownups here.  No one will admit it, but thanks to the web, we see who shoots up their arms or delts.  And without it, we'd see way more weaknesses and the sport would do worse.  Less dollars from sponsors and suppcos if your Mr * doesn't have that extra umph in his side delts...

Yes, that's true.

But they can at least penalize the guys that it's "too obvious" on ;)

Two examples come to mind:  Nasser, when he had that huge softball popping out of his rear delt, and when Ernie Taylor had those huge bumps in his vastus medialis, teardrops!

In both of these cases, they shouldn't have even placed...just an automatic DQ!

Come on, even if it's only a site injection gone wrong, they should pull out and save themselves, and Bodybuilding, the embarrassment.
