chest looks like crap
« on: April 04, 2007, 12:52:45 PM »
my pecs are thick but they aren't really toned. should i cut back a little on presses and do more flyes? maybe hit the pec deck. i've also noticed that doing explosive or clap push ups tend to hit the inside of the pecs a bit. but i'm trying to get some hell of good lookin lines in there so when i'm wearin my wife beater my back ain't the only muscle that looks like its gonna rip my shirt. i know it sounds kinda odd but i'm more out for a good lookin beach bod as opposed to just mountains of lumpy synthol/geared muscle.

Better diet & increased daily cardio will be the biggest factor in bringing out defo.

Also try flys and pec deck, could help. Moderate-high reps. So could high-rep pushups. Also do some iso-tension contractions of the chest after some sets.

All of these combined with some workout intensity will give a more athletic look in 2-3 months.

i don't believe my bodyfat percentage to be much of a factor in defo. i think its most likely do to a lack of flyes etc. but should i increase the total number of sets or should i decrease presses and increase flyes?

In BB'ing, as long as you have the basic thick muscle development, diet is everything. All that extra cardio, flys, etc just mean more wasted hours of training time, if the diet is not well thought out. Lower the carbs down to the 100 grams a day level and see what happens.Try not to over think the problem, it's really simple.  Lots of other ways to lose fat and still hold onto muscle size. Get a book. Good Luck.

ok so maybe a few of the things here mentioned did seem quite obviously bullshit. however. i lot of my problems with chest being one there thick as hell on the outside and barely show shit on the inside. diet could be needed yes but not as much as more defining and toning exercises sets and reps. and another thing with it being my lack of equipment i work out at home and have to do incline barbell presses off of a dip stand. so there's that factor as well. im not saying i don't need diet at all. my most basic question is. should i increase the total number of sets or should i decrease presses and increase flyes?

Might be the main problem with your chest is that you do not have a complete development. If the inner pecs "barely show shit", than that's where you should focus more on. All the definition and toning exercises will not help if there is less inner pec muscle to define and tone. Think dips and dips with the knuckles facing forward, if your lacking some exercise equipment. Good Luck.

I feel for you as I suffer from fatt tissue around my pecks too.  You can build muscle all you want, but the only thing that is going to get your pecks toned is cardio and diet.  Cut sugar from you diet and go from there.  Else you could always get lipo suction, but I have never seen a lipo set of pecks or even an implant set of pecks that looked better than the real thing.  You can work your pecks all you want, fat is not burned locally.  Your fat cells are like small fuels tanks all over your body.  As you burn fat you are taking fuel from all of them at once. Some parts of the body just have more cells than other parts.
