how much fiber
« on: June 27, 2007, 01:05:47 PM »
i found these awesome wraps that have 14g fiber per serving.  Along with oatmeal and vegetables, it is easy to reach my daily allowance of fiber.  How much fiber to you take in daily?

I think you may be describing the same wraps as I use (La Tortilla Factory?)  I try to get in at least 50g per day but sometimes it ends up being closer to 70g.

yeah thats them.  Wegman's supermarket just started carrying those.  Really filling with that much fiber.  i stuff em with turkey and romaine, avocado, tomato, mustard, and slice of swiss or gruyere.

If you track calories, please know that they are really 135 calories, not 80.  I'm not sure, but I thing they use the 14 g of fiber as "cancelling out" a certain number of carbs, so they subtract calories from the real total to reach 80.

They are also good for canned tuna with hot sauce.

I would estimate about 30+g a day, more on a cut.

I saw a very neat study in the The New England Medicine Journal I believe, they did 1 gram of fiber for every 4 grams of Protein that was ingested.  I have stuck by this for a bit, that equates a person eating 200 grams of protein at 50 grams of Fiber daily.  Imagine these pro's that eat 400 grams a day, wow 100 grams of Fiber   :o
