Red wine and cheese after training
« on: August 20, 2007, 02:24:37 PM »
The thing is that i train in the evening, but i also liketo drink wine in the evening. Im just finished with m training and im enjoying a nice french red wine and brie cheese with garlic butter on top of that. Is there anything against this meal after training. dont tell me that i need simple sugars after training, i know that bullshit, if you dont agree with wine andcheese, give me some science solutions why its not good.

I drink wine every night.  I eat cheese on everything.  I look better than everyone I know.

What I worry about is your self-doubt.  It creeps into your posts and makes me question your manhood.

- it soothes the soul
- it reduces blood pressure
- it increases libido
- it increases erectile function
- it reduces artirial hardening
- it makes ugly men look less ugly
- it gives me something to talk to Stella about
- it gives my left hand something to do as i type right handed...

When you drink alcohol, it becomes your body's primary source of fuel - not because it's good for you, but because your body immediately goes to work, clearing it from your body.  Therefore, your body won't be trying to rebuild muscle after your workout.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE booze - all forms!  I drink quite regularly and quite large quantities.  However, you AT LEAST want to give your body an hour or two to full digest and assimilate you post-workout meal.  So if you're in a hurry go start boozin', it's best to have a post-workout shake that will get digested faster.

If you were going to have one glass of wine with some grilled chicken and a baked potato as your postworkout meal, then no, I don't see the ONE glass causing all that many problems.  However, "cheese" will never qualify as a post-workout meal!

As for drinking before working out, I have no experience with it; but I wouldn't recommend it either.  That's not to say that I don't workout on a hangover on a regular basis - because I do.  I workout first thing in the morning - about 5:00am...  So there's plenty of days I'm feeling the effects of the previous nights booze!

Look it up...  Took me about 5 seconds to find this:

• Your body processes alcohol first, before fat, protein, or carbs. Thus drinking slows down the burning of fat.

There's plenty more out there...

bahahahaha.... this is 80s mumbo-jumbo...

case in point from your article

• But if you drink a lot and the alcohol replaces food and other beverages, you may lose weight, as some alcoholics do.
