There have always been transgender kids.  But society and their families tried to force them to conform.  This often resulted in suicide.  A US study found 41% of transgender young adults have attempted suicide, compared to 4.6% for the rest of the country.  Today, parents who realize their child is transgender don't want them to end up a statistic, and are trying to help.

If you prevent the onset of adolescences with medicines until the child is old enough to make an informed decision, as an adult the transgender person can appear as the gender they are.
