According to rumors Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will step back into the octagon on December 29th to take on Cheick Kongo at UFC 79.

Kongo was believed to be fighting former UFC champion Frank Mir later this year (at least if Mir got his way) but Mir’s next opponent is now up in the air.

Update: UFC Daily spoke to Mir’s manager, Dean Albrecht, earlier today and at this time there is no definite opponent in place for his next bout.

Sound the horns because Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira will face Cheick Kongo on the December 29th UFC show. It was widely speculated that Frank Mir would be Kongo’s next opponent; however, in a recent interview with Portaldovaletudo.com.br, Minotauro confirmed that he is next in line to face Kongo. In fact, Minotauro has already started training for the fight. Minotauro admits that he is looking to win by submission, but should the fight remain standing up, he is confident that he can trade with Kongo.

Kongo is a big dude. With prettty good skills, Nog didn't dude much against Heath. And Mir hasn't been the same after the motorcycle accident. I would rather see Nog Mir and Kongo in the ring at the same time. In a last man standing match. Oh wait this isn't the WWE.
