since turning into a lightweight wussy, i've been experimenting with those Morningstar patties.  they come in hamburger and chicken patties.  not too bad.  they cost like 50 cents each.  15 grams of protein or something.  But it's something.

Why do you want to drop those out of your diet? Health? "Ethics"?

I'm also thinking about dropping some meat out of my diet.
Mainly health reasons.

Also
Tuna -> too much mercury
Egg yolks -> dioxins
(I'll continue with egg whites.)
Red meat -> bad for heart/arteries
Milk -> generally not that good i've read, but i'll continue with yoghurt and cottage cheese (more protein)

So i'll mix up the chicken, fish (occasionally), and some vegetarian shit. Plus of course protein powder.

whey isnt vegetarian.

beans is of course the most obvious one (soy)
nuts is a pretty good source. (especially cashew, taste great but are pretty expensive)
grains.
baked potato

Whey is fine, if he wants to be a vegetarian. If he's doing the vegan thing (no animal products, whatsoever), whey isn't an option.

Yeah I cut down on the tuna thing. I was going through like 4-5 cans a day, its just so cheap!!! But its got lotsa mercury in it. And so i moved to chicken and other fish, wihch has worked out great, not as easy as tuna but whatever.

Red meat -> bad for heart/arteries

Lean red meat (top sirloin, top round) in moderation and prepared appropriately is not bad for the heart/artieries and has substantial health benefits.

A popular protein choice for vegetarians when it comes to supplements is a product called Veganique. It is made in Canada by a company called North Coast Naturals.

It is basically a whole food meal replacement powder based from Hemp Protein, Brown Rice Protein and Whole Flax Seed Powder. It has so many organic and nutritional ingredients that I can't mention all of them. Anyways here is the website for the company that manufacturers it if you want to read up on it.

www.PVLdirect.com
Look under products and you will see it in the North Coast Naturals section.

Like I said, it is a very popular product in our store for Vegetarians.

Peanuts.

Peanuts are not really considered a good protein source contrary to popular belief.  They're not a complete protein and what protein it does have is "wrapped up" in the fiber and therefore the body doesn't absorb that much.  Consider peanuts and peanut butter more of a fat source than anything else.
