Thread for bitter Yankee fans.
« on: October 18, 2007, 01:16:22 PM »
Why don't we start one thread for all the angry and bitter Yankee fans to bitch and moan about the Red Sox.

This thread will speak nothing of the Yankees failures. Nope, it will only focus on a team that has had a better season.

And while you're at it why not bitch and moan about the Patriots and the Celtics. Since we know that Yankee trolls are bitter about anything associated with Boston.

What has Boston accomplished as of late? Oh yeah, down 3-1 to the tribe and would have been swept if they didn't have Beckett. Great team. My hat's off to the $100+ million investment that is Dice-k!

Look, more bitterness and not a single mention of the Yankees $230+ million payroll and their failure in the first round of the playoffs.

I'm shocked.

The Yankees offered $43 Million just to talk to the same guy. Did you forget that?

Or, how about $28 million in actual dollars for 6-6 Clemens?

Keep it coming, watching you turn into a moron troll is hilarious.

Notice how you skipped over the Yankees offering $43 million and the $28 million for Clemens. I'd expect nothing less from a troll.

Gagne's deal was a bad one, terrible in fact but at least it was short money and he's gone after this year.

How'd that Giambi deal work out for the Yanks? How much does he make a year?

sadly there is no way to defend that, 5 year deal 70 million, good lord only 4 years to go. Seriously Francona's best and worst trait is his loyalty, it's good when he stuck with Pedroia that paid off. When you run Drew, Crisp and Lugo out there with your team down 2 games to 1 in a must win, that's questionable in my opinion. He's a great manager but I don't agree with alot of his moves this series. I would of put Ellsbury lead off Pedroia, move Youk to the 6 spot and at least hope for some production from the bottom half. At least Kielty is starting tonight  ;D

Nope, after tonight we'll have the Pats to root for.

How are you Yankees fans doing? Torre telling your team to go fuck itself and the terrible exit in the first round has obviously been a bitter pill for you to swallow.

Don't worry you always have the Giants/Jets and the Knicks.

How are those teams working out for you?

I have no idea why you started this thread.  I'm guessing it's because of BF, but there's no need to drag us all into it.

Since you posed the above #'s though, the Yankees bid 33M for Matsusaka, not the 43M you listed.   Clemens starts statistically translated into four wins compared to a what the Yankees were trotting out for a number 5 (Wright, DeSalvo).   Considering how close the WC chase was until the end, that means it was totally worth it.

Are you a bitter trolling Yankee fan? If you are I've never seen it.

Obviously I was referring to CalvinH and BF. This was meant as a joke thread, no need to take it so seriously.

Oh come on with the Clemens defense. He won 6 games and he cost $27 million and change in real dollars, not prorated dollars.

If you use the Clemens was worth it line of reasoning then you have no right to criticize the Dice-K signing and his 15 wins. Talk about hypocrites.

Not to mention that he's 26 and he's a rookie. And don't compare the Japanese league to MLB, it's like comparing college and MLB.

No worries, this is never serious.  Sometimes it's just hard to resist jumping into the  fray.

I've always looked at the money as irrelevant since it's not mine (the same meme sox fans have taken up the last few years).  Clemens was a better option than what we had.  I've said previously that the Dice-K money would be worth it if he went into the playoffs and kicked ass.  So far he hasn't, and the sox have spent Clemens type money on a league avergage (104 ERA+) pitcher.  The difference between Clemens and Matsuzaka is that the Yankees are free of Clemens after one year.  Clemens was 18 million actual dollars, + luxury tax.  I would say the acquisition was worth it to get to the postseason, but not so much after that since he left the only game he pitched.

Dice-K gets a lot of criticism because of all the hype surrounding him.

There is no comparison, but it's unfair to compare him to a AAA player coming up as well.  Gammons himself has gone through this extensivley.   It's all what you choose to believe.

Clemens cost the Yanks exactly $25.2 million for 6 wins. The Red Sox paid roughly 5 million less for 15 wins. Also, that money was spent on a 26 year old in his first year in the league. The comparison to Clemens isn't valid.

I don't like Gammons and I don't trust what he says. He's from Boston and I still feel that way. I've heard him outright lie too many times. I agree the hype was too much but that's not his fault. He had a tough time dealing with adversity during the second half of the season. If he doesn't improve on that after the 09 season then I'll be the first one to say his signing was a failure, until then it's too early to make any real judgements of him.

I only compared them because of your post.  The reason you really can't compare them is because of the contract length.

I'm not a fan anymore either.  He's become a sox shill.

I'm not saying Matsuzak won't pan out either.   I'm just saying that if he doesn't perform well in his next start, the first season will not be what Theo and company were paying for.

How about the world series AGAIN ? Dice K is worth every cent. Not only will he be a great pitcher one day, he helped us win the ALCS in the final game. Vs the team that sent your 230 million dollar payroll home early yet again. At least the big money players we bring in help us win. And or have a future. Roger just got himself hurt. Guys washed up.

JD Drew?

Yup, he hit the grandslam that sent us on our way to pull the biggest upset in ALCS history next to the choke job the yankees pulled in 2004. Jd has been lighting it up when it has been needed most? Becket was not very good his first year either. Worth every cent.

Who cares? The prospects that matter like Ellsbury and Dustin are playing in the playoffs/world series and contributing. Did you see Clay throw a no hitter? Dont see anyone with there hands on him. The future is bright for Bostons farm system prospects. There are PLENTY.
