Richardson to run for New Mexico Senate?
« on: October 30, 2007, 05:30:58 PM »
Bill Richardson has until Feb to declare if he wants to run for New Mexico seat in Senate in 2008.

He chose against discretionary funds, so they'll easily transfer over to a senate campaign should his presidential run fail.

He has no chance of winning the nod for Prez - distant third, and it's likely that Hilary will choose Rendell (PA Gov) or someone else to win a key state.

His terms limits are up- he can't run again in New Mexico for governor.  Is he just doing this Presidential run to get airwaves for his Senate campaign?

he has energy experience, he has diplomatic experience.

But he's sorta a moderate among moderates.  He can't appeal to the far left voters that take part in primaries, and he can't appeal to the hawk democrats who vote in elections.

Likeable guy.  I just don't like him taking up stage time that could be used to tell us what the likely candidates think about issues.
