Fat burners=tightness in chest
« on: December 15, 2007, 07:00:24 PM »
I have been taking fat burners for as long as I can remember and am now 40 years old. Is it safe to keep  taking these into my 40's, where heart issues can be a problem. Seem to be getting tightness in my chest when taking them now. Can fat burners really mess with your heart, even at lower than advised doses.

Subjectively speaking I would lay off by now. What is your health really worth, the difference between 12% and 8%? I'm 30 ans I am reconsidering if I should use them at all.

are you sure the chest tightness is stimulant related and not exertional, since most take stims to work out. if your having chest pain that indicates your heart is being overworked. could be due to many things, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, clots, atheroscelerosis etc.. if its a continuing problem i would seriously suggest you get a full blood panel to see wear your metabolic markers are at. not trying to scare you and many stims can can arrythmia on their own but its better safe then sorry, since when you increase heart contration and blood flow you get pain, it may indicate something there, or it could just be your too stimulated.

chronic stimulant use can cause adrenal atrophy as the adrenals secrete catecholamines from the medulla which when stimulated, via caffeine, eppies too much can cause too much release resulting in some similar symptoms. plus if your adrenals atrophy your looking at low energy and a host of other problems. i would advise againt using stims for long periods, or at least strong ones as it can cause some of the above problems, and a few others. im not against stims, just when you have chest pains and have been taking them for like 20 years, your asking for trouble especially if you take very little breaks.

Guess I've used these as a quick fix for those cheat meals. The magazines just shove them down your throat  on almost every page, guess thoses ads work. I know thoses bodybuilders use alot different supp's then weak fat burners and all legal too....lol.  Gonna stick with the cardio and watch my diet more, especially getting up there in years. Been working out since 16 and am 40 now.

You can also take an adrenal support supplement when you are taking time off the crack. Just like when people start with one cup of coffe a day then work up to the whole damn pot to reach the same effect.

Remember, the mags are full of ads to sell their products and could care less about your health.

i actually find adrenal extracts pretty good, adding adaptogens which modulate cortisol like aswhadandah or ginseng is highly advised, along with the licorice which acts like cortisone to take over for the adrenals your looking at a good supp stack if you've been on stims to long. licorice can cause aldersteronism so people with high blood pressure should avoid it as it can cause hypertension and edema. high doses of vitamin c are also helpful along with b vitamins. alot of adaptagenic products have most if not all of these products combined.

good advice on the adrenal extracts, i honestly notice marked improvement in fatigue and immune function when taking them when i stressed from school and shit.

Yeah, I was an avid thermo kid when Ephedra was around. Then, the system shut down.....adrenal support and time off was the only thing to recharge my nervous system.

Ususally a stack will have what usmoke said but at the very least, take aswhadandah and time off. And if chest pains persist, go to the doc bro.

ya dude stay off the stims for a while, they are immunosuppresive so with serious infection you had recently i would let your body rest. that is probably the issue, as pneumonia can linger for a while. did you have it checked to make sure it was clear?

good luck with it

i would, its a serious infection, and can linger. its up to you though. especially if your still having chest pain.
