The Pope frenzy
« on: April 18, 2008, 07:05:35 AM »
Can someone make an analogy as to why people get all worked up to see the pope?

I don't get it.

Are you Catholic? If not, then it doesn't concern you.

The pope is the vicar of Christ on earth, the successor of Peter as head of the church and the apostles, and the spiritual leader of the Catholics. It's that simple!

He also happens to be a visiting head of state, so they have to pull out all the pomp and circumstance for him like they would for the Queen of England or the French president!

The Pope thinks he is man/God. Why else make up more rules to follow that have nothing to do with Bible scripture.

Be glad these aren't the days where the pope was ex-communicating people for believing that the earth revolved around the sun, instead of the other way around.

If the pope were a political candidate here in the US, then the bible belt would probably title him a 'lib'

Like many other Christians, the Pope is against the Death Penalty and opposes the use of torture in any situation.

I believe George Bush considers himself a Christian as well, yes?
