This has probably already been a thread before, but what is the difference between IFSA strongman and METRX strongman?

They are two different organisations. Kinda like the IFBB and PDA (when it was still around). Actually the IFSA filled for bankrupcy and the head men started anew under a new name (at least that's what I've been told).

There is/was a slight difference in the events being contested. The IFSA was more of a pure strength contest with moves like the deadlift, overhead lift, clean and press, etc. while the Met-Rx WSM has more carries and lifts contested for reps instead of for max weight.

Christian, my friend had gotten your book recently and has adopted your training style, he is a bodybuilder, he competes in about 5 weeks. Do you believe in the traditional old school approach to training also? Or do you rely on supersets and use of stability balls for building mass only?

Thanks in advance!

I do not have one training philosophy. I love training and try to integrate everything that has been shown to work. Every program works, but none work forever. See, right now I'm training much like strongmen from the early 1900s. I am also a former olympic lifter so I do integrate the olympic lifts in my own training.

If I have one philosophy it could be called ''mirror training''... train a certain way for 4-6 weeks then DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE for 4-6 weeks.

For example right now I am:

- Training each muscle very frequentely
- Using a very low volume per muscle group
- Using only basic compound movements
- Training with 5 or less reps

So in my next training phase I'll be:

- Training each muscle once a week
- Using a high volume for each muscle
- Using an equal mix of compound and isolation movements
- Training with higher reps and integrating techniques such as supersets, drop sets, etc.
