shoulder pain
« on: July 19, 2008, 03:43:51 PM »
hey guys. I have shoulder tendonitis and pain in my left shoulder. I get a lot of pain in my rotator cuff.
ive had this since I was 12 years old. I think its because I grew so fast, I was 6’4 in gr9 and it comes and goes every few months. NEways I was wondering if anyone else has this and what they do to help it.

this is what im trying
1 taking 1800mg of Advil for 2 weeks( that’s what the doctor told me to do last time this happened in the winter.
2. lowered the weight when training and warm up my rotator cuff a lot more before training.
i also tried 6 weeks of 500mg of deca EW and it did nothing for ther pain or healing

I was wondering what you people think.

and do you think it’s a good idea to only use machines and cables when doing chest and shoulders???

Deca will not heal the problem. Deca will only lubricate the joints. For a rotator cuff I dont know. If machines and cables is all you can use, then that is all you can use. I have had a little right shoulder pain over the years, especially when benching. For me I will power through it, and just kind of listen to my own body. I always make sure to warm up very good and even do a few weight acclimation sets for connective tissues.

1) try aflutop or adequan

2) go easy

3) pray to the shoulder gods that you dont need surgery

4) add glucosamine/ chondrotin/ msm to your daily regimen

I have read a few studies that have said chondrotin is something most males should avoid taking due to prostate issues. These studies were not conclusive due to the fact that not enough study has been done to affirm the link between chondrotin and prostate inflammation.

Even so, for the purposes here, it is the glucosamine that has the advantage, not the chondrotin, so no real need worrying about anything else...just buy glucosamine without chondrotin.

You may want to try seeing a specialist &/or a sports medicine doctor. If it's that bad that you're taking 1800mg of Advil a day I'd recommend you not train your back/chest/shoulders (& maybe arms) to give your shoulder a serious rest.

u wanna see a physio.... allmost all cases are caused by your scapular bein unbalanced with your shoulder bein pulled forward out of line.... u could also have a small chest or bicep tear, all can be remedied with ultra sound and stretches/corrective exersizes

decca works wonders for minor aches.. does fuck all for real problems tho

Stretching and rotations before any shoulder isolation exercise tends to help, but really it depends on what your body can handle in terms of weight.

You need to listen to your body and pay attention...

As others have said, the Deca only masks the issue......doesn't cure anything.

You should be focusing on form and full extension on your movements, not so much on the weight.

The point is to have a functioning shoulder, not to put yourself on the shelf because you wanted to do more weight.

Also, I'd recommend free weight movements over cables, machines.......functiona l movements.
