Why is this the wrong approach? He is definitely sending a message to NFL players and the players union that stupid behavior will not be tolerated. Period. What's so difficult to understand about that?

Pacman Jones was never convicted of anything but his name was in the headlines in about half a dozen negative topics. Same with Chris Henry. His last arrest ended in a mistrial due to lack of evidence. Even if he wasn't convicted of anything, he was issued a four game suspension provided he's playing for an NFL team this year. This on top of the four arrests he's had in the past year. Why does this not make sense to you, Big Mal?

no...he was clear...then arrested and then the charges dropped (which means he was responsible for what he got arrested for because if he was then he would have at least had a herring)...then he was suspended anyway...like fuck the dude cant catch a fucking break...

Yeah but he was arrested, which suggests that he was in the wrong place, possibly doing the wrong thing. He was also involved with tons of incidents prior to that. Bottom line, the NFL wants athletes to positively represent the franchises they play for.

Even if he wasn't charged with anything, that probably has more do with a lack of admissible evidence more than him not doing anything wrong in the first place.

That's like an NFL player being a passenger in a car that was pulled over for drunk driving. The officer then finds a baggy of coke in the driver's pocket. Even if the NFL player who was the passenger didn't do anything wrong, what makes you think the NFL team he plays for won't react negatively and give him shit for it?

Bottom line? Stop hanging out with douchebags make your career your top priority. Playing in the NFL is not a right, it's a privilege.
