We've been securing American interests for 110 years by sending money, troops, ''advisors'' etc to foreign countries...check out the phillipines, honduras, panama, china during the boxer rebellion---not to mention korea, vietnam and the first gulf war...it's the american way---it's not global socialism--whatever the f@#k that means.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman says he will ask for $1 billion in emergency aid for the nation.

I hope Obama picks Biden as his running mate..........it would secure McCains presidency.

biden is a lot like obama... a wildcard.  Biden could dazzle an audience with his brutal honesty... or he could pull a Stockdale moment and just blow it.

i think he'll choose a quiet, established figure who will appear dignified.  Not a wildcard.  A safe bet,  a quiet person.

Bullshit!  Does anyone respect the national debt anymore?  One billion dollars to Georgia?  What they hell do we get in return?  We have already delivered tons of medical and other supplies...so this is an additional 1 billion dollars that we don't have and are borrowing from China?  WTF!?!?
Unacceptible.

I know Biden is respected for his foreign policy experience, but this is an outrageous idea at this time.  An Obama/Biden ticket will definitely not cut spending.  No way in hell I'd vote for that ticket.  Biden was at the forefront of government involvement in the steroids in baseball fiasco.  He's also a hot head.  I don't care for Biden.

Why you say that? I think it's not going to be good for McCain, and worse yet is perhaps Richardson, who would pick up the Hispanic vote.

nah, we're going to blindly label it "american interests" and send the $.

Does this actually mean "$1B borrowed from china under our names, to be handed to US military firms to give weapons to fuel another perpetual war or conflict?"

exactly, 10 billion a year going to Pakistan as well for what? all that money does over there is create conflict and corruption in whoever governs, hell that's the reason politicians over there even bother running for office to get some of that money. ::)

Why do we continue to give so much aid when the US is criticized so heavily.  I say reduce all aid by at least 50%...particularly now that our national debt is so outrageous.

Where in the budget is aid given to other countries reported?

A Biden/Obama ticket promises more spending, not less, which is absoutely necessary at this time.
