Lesnar's chin???
« on: November 17, 2008, 06:53:41 AM »
With all the recent Couture/Lesnar threads something important came to me, Lesnar chin hasn't really been tested yet... he took a few good shots from Randy, but Randy is no KO artist... what do you guys think? could Lesnar take some punishment on the button? or will he have a glass jaw and break?

I think his chin will be proved to be decent. Randy rocked Sylvia with some similar shots that he put on Brock. I wouldn't say that Randy is the best boxer, but he did box during his military career. I think that he hit Brock with enough to show that Lesnar can take one on the button. Now can he take a shot from Fedor or someone else along those lines we will have to wait and see, but I think Brock could take shots from Mir, Herring, Nog, Kongo and a few others. It is when he gets into the boxer HW's he might need to tuck that chin a little more! Arlovski might be able to check his chin?

He looked like he didnt like to get hit. He was bleeding. A better boxer who would have choosen to keep the distance instead of going for the clinch would have beaten Lesnar.

I'd like to see Brock against more of a striker.. maybe Kongo?  Someone tall too.. that could land a few punches on him to test it.

I think Kongo will get crushed, we will see, but I would rather see him against someone like Arlovski. That is if it was old Arlovski.

I think the same, I think someone like Cheick or Gonzaga will knock Brock out.

I think that would be an awesome fight.  Right now, Gonzaga would kill Lesnar.  If Brock continues to progress though, in a couple years I give him the advantage.  If this fight were to happen before then however, I'm going with Gonzaga, possibly even in the first round.  Dude is a beast.

I think that Lesnar will give Gonzaga fits.. Look at the Randy fight, I think Lesnar will be more then enough for everyone to handle other then Nog. Not jumping on the hype ship with Brock, but I think of Mir as one of the top 4 HW in the UFC. I think Brock would walk through all of them minus Nog. I just think that dude is to strong and powerful and he is only going to get better with each fight. Gonzaga doesn't impress me all that much. Shitty performance against Randy and Fabrico. Yes he does have two wins, but against who?  Not top 5 HW's. I guess we will see where this train stops.

Lesnar wasn't too strong and powerful for Mir. (submitted in 1,5 minute)
Gonzaga is both taller and bigger than Mir. He's also a legit BJJ black belt and Mundials champion. And have KO power in both hands and feet.

I'm with you on this one, I think Gonzaga would absolutely kill Lesnar, if not by sub then by brutal KO

lesnar made a rookie mistake. for the first minute and a half he was pounding mir into burger, and then just didn't think to watch out for an ankle lock. it's not like he got "out grappled". even mir said he was lucky to get out of that fight alive.

seeing how Mir and Nog will be settling the whole "interim champion" thing soon, the logical choice for lesnars next opponent will be the winner of that fight

His chin is ultra fine.  He can take a punch from anyone.  He took a couple good ones from Randy.  His neck will help support a very punch

I hate to admit it but i agree with Keith.  For anyone that doubts Brocks ability to take a punch, I refer you to the video of him screwing up a shooting star press and landing, all 300lbs of him, flat on his fae and head.  And he took it like a champ. Thats a lot of force and momentum on your head and I think most anyone else would have been out cold.

True but he has proven he has a hard head, can take a punch and like I said his neck is strong as hell and will keep his head on his shoulders.  I think he needs to learn some submissions.  Nog couldn't handle Sapp on the ground, but Sapp can't do shit on the ground.  Lesnar at least can punch while on the ground.  His boxing skills have something to be desired too but hopefully he'll get better.  Sorry but I to go with the guy just because he is just that...BIG.

Mir benefited by the really weak standup.  He was on his way to being TKOed.  Napao would give Lesnar a great fight.  Good stand up and great BJJ.  I don't want to see Carwin or Velasquez against Brock, though.  That would be a snooze fest.

Last time I threw hands with Brock over a couple of beers and betting on Jai Alai, he went down like a $2 hooker.  But maybe he's improved since then.

Lesnar was kicking his all over the place.  He made a mistake because of his lack of experince and Mir got him.  If didn't do that Mir would have ended up looking like a swollen and beaten tomato
