Real Estate prices are comparable to what they are in the Portland Metro area according to Zillow and Redfin. The cost of living is 30% higher than the national average in Portland while in Palm Springs, it is only 20% - 25% higher. Here it is cold and wet 9 months out of the year, instead of hot and dusty. Take your pick. Oh, and Portland is also gay friendly. LOL!

It is not surprising that you came to this conclusion despite that there was nothing in my post suggesting gay friendly cities are miserable. Quite the opposite.  One of the reasons the cost of living is high in a city is because people with good incomes choose to live there. The greater the demand for goods, services and housing is, the more those things cost.
