*UPDATE* Three fighters on the card failed to make weight on their first attempt. Rani Yahya came in one pound heavy in his scheduled 135 pound bout. His opponent Yoshiro Maeda has agreed to fight him at that weight.

Main event participant Mike Brown weighed in a half a pound heavy for his featherweight title fight with Urijah Faber. He’ll have two hours to shed the excess weight, which shouldn’t be a problem.

And middleweight champion Paulo Filho tipped the scales for his rematch against Chael Sonnen seven pounds over the 185 pound limit. Clearly seven pounds will be hard to lose for the Brazilian, but he’s been given two hours to lose the weight. We’ll let you know what decision is made regarding the title bout after that time.

Fighters will today tip the scales at 4 p.m. ET for the official WEC 36: “Faber vs. Brown” weigh-in event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. — the scene for all the action tomorrow night (November 5).

It’s the last of the formalities leading up to highly anticipated show, which was delayed because of the threat Hurricane Ike posed to the South Florida region back in September.

WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah “The California Kid” Faber (21-1) and middleweight title holder Paulo Filho (16-0) will defend their respective belts in the featured matches on the card.

Here are the official WEC 36 weigh in results (to begin updating after 4 p.m. ET):

145 lbs.: WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah ”The California Kid” Faber (144.5) vs. Mike Brown (145.5)
185 lbs.: WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho (192) vs. Chael Sonnen (184.5)
145 lbs.: Jens ” Little Evil” Pulver (146) vs Leonard Garcia (145.5)
185 lbs.: Jake Rosholt (185.5) vs. Nissen Osterneck (184.5)
155 lbs.: “Razor” Rob McCullough (155.5) vs. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (156)
185 lbs.: David Avellan (185) vs. Aaron Simpson (184.5)
145 lbs.: Jose Aldo (146) vs. Jonathan Brookins (146)
205 lbs.: Carmelo Marrero (206) vs. Steve Steinbeiss (202)
155 lbs.: Rafael Dias (155) vs. Danny Castillo (156)
135 lbs.: Rani Yahya (137) vs. Yoshiro Maeda (135)

*Fighters are allowed one extra pound in non-title bouts

The Brazilian was given two hours to shed the extra baggage. Unfortunately, on his second attempt Filho tipped the scales at 189 pounds — still four pounds too much.

As a result, the promotion made the decision to go one with the bout; however, it will be contested as a three-round nontitle fight rather than a five rounder with championship gold on the line. He will also likely have to forfeit a percentage of his purse to Sonnen.

7 pounds in 2 hours would only be possible if he wasn't already depleted.

that sucks and shows what lack of prep he put into this fight.

No excuses for missing weight.
