Good question.  Presumably, you have to sign up with a credit card (as with http://www.netflix.com/ or http://www.sugardvd.com/) and they can always charge your card if you prove to be a thieving customer.  But would anyone (with a good credit rating) go to the trouble of signing up for a service like this just so she could steal a purse?

Some bags are worth thousands of dollars.  They also have watches.  Some people could steal other's identities to purchase or even get a credit card in a non-existent person's name I guess?

From my reading in the press, identity thieves tend to go for bigger windfalls than purses.  Think about it, if someone is going to go to the trouble of stealing your identity and obtaining credit cards in your name is "a purse" really going to be high on their list of priorities?  I think not.

Furthermore, ...if they're going to steal your identity, why would they bother with stealing a rental purse, when they can simply use your forged credentials to buy the real thing?
