Bag, Borrow, and Steal?
« on: December 16, 2008, 06:42:17 AM »
Do any of ladies "bag, borrow, and steal"?  http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/

This service is like Netflix but for luxury handbags, jewelry, watches, and sunglasses.  Poke around that website and tell me, how would you feel about getting a trial membership in this service for a holiday gift?

I've heard about that and think it would be a good idea for some people.

How do they make sure the people will return the stuff?

Good question.  Presumably, you have to sign up with a credit card (as with http://www.netflix.com/ or http://www.sugardvd.com/) and they can always charge your card if you prove to be a thieving customer.  But would anyone (with a good credit rating) go to the trouble of signing up for a service like this just so she could steal a purse? ???

Some bags are worth thousands of dollars.  They also have watches.  Some people could steal other's identities to purchase or even get a credit card in a non-existent person's name I guess?

From my reading in the press, identity thieves tend to go for bigger windfalls than purses.  Think about it, if someone is going to go to the trouble of stealing your identity and obtaining credit cards in your name is "a purse" really going to be high on their list of priorities?  I think not.

Furthermore, ...if they're going to steal your identity, why would they bother with stealing a rental purse, when they can simply use your forged credentials to buy the real thing?

Services like this are for posers.

Which makes it ideal for people in a bodybuilding/fitness/figure industry--where looking good just to impress other people is everything!   ;)
