so you are taking your glutamine orally from beef, chicken, ..... etc because you are eating all those things to get your glutamine. So what's the different if you take as a supplement powder?? It's like I'm eating beef to get the glutamine  ;)
no no no its very very different bro.  the glutamine in a complete protien is different than taking glutamine alone...

Through an IV.

I'm sorry but what do you mean??

What Rim & Nec mean is that glutamine administered via an IV has been studied with positive results in bed-ridden hospital  patients (such as burn victims).  It's not an effective supplement taken orally and I don't believe either one of them is suggesting an individual inject it into themselves.

Prepare yourself for the facts as I see them.....

"Supplements" help .001% nobody ever got huge because they took glutamine orally or via injection.  Food is the only anabolic you need as a natural bb'er.  With exception to normal vitamins, fish oils, some joint support and maybe liquid amino's post workout i say don't waste your money.

And furthermore I guarantee I will never change my mind on this issue...........

there are more effective and cheaper supplements that aid in sleep. However, technically you are right, the possibility that it may do something makes it not worthless :D

i was pretty much referring to body composition.

For what is worth...
I actually benefited from taking glutamine. I felt stronger at the gym  and my muscles seemed fuller. Pretty much what I was getting from creatine but without the water retention effect.
I was taking 5 g in the morning and 5 before going to bed (on workout days 5g before and 5g after).
After suspending glutamine, I was feeling weaker and less full and actually lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks.
How much of this was placebo effect?

you must be a monster. Or a genetic freak.

How much was Placebo? all of it.

Nothing against glutamine,i take it myself, but it doesn't help with lifting at all, and not comparable to creatine.

Been taking Glutamine on and off for 10 years now. I'd use some and not bother again for a year or so. I can safely say that every single time I seem to take Glutamine, I grow, recover faster and my muscles feels harder. It's like anything really, right now, Glutamine is not the flavour of the month. Just wait a bit and an article will soon appear in Flex or Musclemag "Glutamine: What you may have been missing out on" or something similar. It happened to creatine, creatine loading, all was crap at one point, now it's cool again. People seem to pick sides very quickly because of an article they read or a big guy they spoke to in the gym. I have had people try to convince me in very eloquent language, supported by very selective research, that anabolic steroids are all placebo and don't really work.
I go by trial and error. Glutamine works great for me, it could do the same for you. Try it, don't let some nameless on the internet decide for you.

Wow, after reading all this I didn't realise Glutamine as so useless.

Having said that though I used it myself about five years ago and it did absolutely nothing for me so I can understand why people don't rate it.
