Losing the gut
« on: June 11, 2009, 10:10:23 AM »
Ok, i'm currently pretty low in bf, decent definition in arms, legs, chest.
I have a fast metabolism so i don't have to do anything special to do this.

However i am still stuck with a gut (think chuck lidell, though not as bad). Genetics are involved as both my parents store fat in their guts and my brothers as well.

Anything special i can do to get rid of this problem? I know people say you can't "spot-reduce" fat,
but still, i'd like some getbiggers opinion.

I don't know much about dieting cause its never been a problem for me to lose weight.

I'm thinking lowering carbs, upping fats would have the biggest effect? Or maybe a keto-style diet?
And next to that interval training?

Edit: wasn't really sure where to put this, here or in the nutrition boards, so the mods can move it if they feel like it.

new research says you actually can spot reduce fat... look it up.... its a small % buts it better than nothing... other than that get bigger shoulders and a wider back and work on your quad sweep

That's interesting because i thought that-overall reduction is necessary but spot reduction i've experienced and can happen given enough work and decent diet.

You'd have to share your current program, everything you do each week to know what else to suggest. Without that though i'd say look at a lower-carb diet, more ab work and some cardio 5-6 days a week, HIT or longer duration.

Well, basicall i train twice a week. (Doing a light schedule, because of exams and back problems)

Back + bi on monday
Chest + tri on thursday

I go running (interval: running fast, walking a bit, ...) maybe once a week.

I'm gonna try to cut back on the carbs a bit and see what that gives.

Mods: could you move this thread to the nutrition board.
