« on: June 24, 2009, 07:21:27 AM »
Is there a downfall to eating red meat everyday. I am so burnt out on chicken so i switched over to steak this week and it's been damn good.

Yes. It will speed up the aging process because it's loaded with hormones and other awful stuff that mimics estrogen in the body. Also very difficult to digest. If you don't care, then sure eat up.

Try salmon. Way better nutrition content than any steak can offer. All you need is some seafood rub and a skillet. It cooks fast and tastes great. Preferably wild caught as it has a much better nutrition profile. I always feel like a million bucks after eating salmon.

Beef is very healthy. contains all the essential amino acids, contains some essential fatty acids, contains some cholestrol needed for optimal hormone production. grass fed beef is superior to regular beef (grain fed), but both are good foods to eat.

one downfall to etaing it everyday is that its possible you may develop of a allergy to beef. people who eat one type of protein too foten soemtimes gain a protien allergy to it.

yes....there can be some negatives...

1) steak is loaded with arachodonic acid (spelling?)....which is is pro-inflammatory.

2) steak is loaded with phosphorus which, in excess, can retard calcium and magnesium metabolism.

To side step these problems keep your magnesium and calcium intakes relatively high. Also take Omega 3 fatty acid which is anti-inflammatory.

The upside to eating steak is that it is high in absorbable heme Iron. Beef is also a great source of: Protein, vitamin B-12, Zinc, and Creatine.

Try to only eat "organic" grass fed cattle.

Rim,
Is that acid contained primarily in the fat?

I ask because I’m curious if a defatted beef protein supplement (like dessicated liver tablets or beef-based protein powders) would give you all or most of beef’s benefits with fewer side effects.

arachadonic acid is a fatty acid. so yes, a fat free beef suplement will be arachadonic acid free as well.

however arachadonic acid is very beneficial for bodybuilding.

A testo/deca stack is more beneficial.
