I think there needs to be more debate on the details of the bill. So far they are just rushing it through. There may be some good and bad stuff in there, we need a scalpel now. I've heard some good mandates to force more fairness to the people but I think a government controlled option will knock out most of the private options. Gov option will also increase cost (CBO analysis), significantly ration care for the elderly, create even more paperwork and pre-certifications that no one has time for, probably make us see even more patients than we do now...if thats possible, and decrease the overall quality of care.
I like that more people will be covered, they remove pre-existing conditions clauses, they seem to want to push preventitive medicine (my exact interest), and I like a standardization of reimbursement for visits and proceedures (if thats in there). Insurance companies already ration care but I can't see how gov rationing will be better.
